Today is Giving Day — and you can help change a child’s future.

Across West Augustine, Hastings, and Palatka, many children grow up without access to the opportunities that help them thrive. Through a powerful partnership between The Protential Foundation and Ancient City Soccer Club, we are working to change that—providing at-risk youth with mentorship, literacy support, and the life-changing experience of being part of a team.

Last September we launched the Passport to Prosperity after-school program at Webster Elementary School with just 18 students. 

Today, 50 children are participating—and the impact has been extraordinary.

The results so far:

✅ 100% of students have increased their at-home reading time
✅ 80% have already improved on their state reading assessments
✅ 20 students are now playing in Ancient City’s Recreation Soccer League
✅ 6 students have already advanced into the Competitive Soccer Program

But the real transformation goes far beyond statistics.

Dr. Bethany Groves, Principal at Webster Elementary, shared:

“Protential’s work goes far beyond after-school engagement. It lays the foundation for lifelong success through structured literacy tutoring, mentoring, and team-based physical activity. The work being done to support emotional self-regulation is some of the most impactful I’ve seen in my career. The results truly have the power to change the trajectory for students, families, and generations.”

A parent recently told us:

"When my son started at Webster it was rough. He was getting into fights all the time and not listening to anyone. Once he met Coach Tony, it was like a switch flipped. The impact you’ve had on his life is incredible—it feels like I have a new child."

And then there’s 7-year-old Jakari.

When he arrived for his very first training session with Ancient City at Gamble Rogers, he looked around the field, smiled, and said:

"Coach Tony… welcome to my new world."

That moment is why this work matters.
