Hope Taking Root in Armenia

Maryam and Noor (not their real names) are Iranian refugee women living in Armenia. They fled Iran leaving behind their homes, possessions and family to escape arrest and brutality because of their Christian faith. A year ago, they attended a Crown of Beauty International (COBI) conference weeks after their arrival in Armenia, where they met the Executive Director, Sue Corl. Over the past year, Maryam and Noor have been studying the Scriptures with Sue over Zoom using the Crown of Beauty discipleship materials.

Maryam is a season believer. She is using the COBI materials to disciple others. She understand firsthand how these truths anchor women in the certainty of God's unfailing love.

Noor is a fireball! Young and fearless. she narrowly escaped arrest in Iran and arrived in Armenia with no friends, no family, and no finances. She continues to trust God each day to provide - and He does! She is discipling two women and regularly takes the gospel to the streets in Armenia. Her dream? To return one day to a free Iran bringing hope and renewal to the rapidly growing church there. 

Why Armenia? Why now?

Armenia sits at a crossroads of history and crisis. Since the escalation of the U.S./Iran conflict, tens of thousands of Iranians have fled across the border seeking safety. Armenia is visa-free, and many refugees are arriving with nothing; displaced, afraid, and searching for hope.

Christian agencies are already meeting them at the border. COBI will join what God is already doing there (travel dates May 28 - June 10) working with our partners on the ground in Armenia. Our team, Lord willing, will:

• encourage Armenian Christians as they offer hospitality to Iranians and refugees from other nations
• equip Armenians to share the gospel and disciple Iranian refugees who come to faith in Christ using our discipleship materials
• equip Armenian leaders to bring other Armenians into a deeper meaningful relationship with Christ
• host a Beauty for Ashes conference for Iranian refugees providing materials in their heart language, and teaching centered on the person of Jesus Christ and the God-given dignity every person carries as one made in His image

About Armenia

Armenia was the world's first and is the oldest Christian nation (301 AD). Centuries of religious persecution has shaped this country: a devastating genocide in the early 1900s that claimed 1.5 million Armenian lives, renewed conflict with Azerbaijan as recently as 2020–2023, and another genocide of the Nagorno-Karabakh people. 

Armenia is a gateway to people groups who seek refuge from war and hardship welcoming Iranians, Ukrainians, Turks, Russians, Turks, Syrians, Belarusians, and Georgians. 

God is actively working in Armenia bringing the gospel of truth to the nations. Our Crown of Beauty team will continue to bring hope and peace to refugees and Armenians through our conferences and discipleship materials.
