Our Mission

In God’s love, we renew dignity and inspire learning for youth and families.
We believe every person has God-given worth and something valuable to offer.

That’s why our programs engage members in their own growth, building on their strengths within a supportive, Christ-centered community.

The Canby Center offers practical help with purpose — from food and clothing to mentoring, tutoring, and life-skills education. Every service is designed to restore dignity and open doors to opportunity. Our members volunteer alongside staff and supporters, reinforcing the truth that we’re in this together.

Thriving Together: Food + Clothing

Thriving Together Program is a no-cost membership program. Each week, more than 350 families partner with The Canby Center for fresh food and encouragement. Behind every reusable bag and shopping cart is a story of resilience and a desire for connection. And every single week, the cost of those essential staples lands directly on our budget.

Educational Support

For children, we come alongside both in schools and on-site at The Canby Center through programs like Reading Mentors, Quest Mentoring, and After-School Tutoring.

Reading Mentors inspires a love of reading by providing students with their own library of books and consistent, one-on-one reading with a caring adult. Kids who read for fun, read to learn!

Quest is a mentoring program of The Canby Center designed to come alongside middle school students, and their families, journeying together to discover new pathways of courage, connection and fun.

Our after school tutoring program is for students needing extra help with specific subjects.

Adult Educational Support

Finance Classes, ELS Conversation classes, and sewing classes are a few of the classes that we offer for adults looking to grow. In the coming months, we'll launch a Job Resources Program where individuals will receive mentorship and support as they search for employment or better employment opportunities.
