WHY DOES BIG TABLE EXIST?
The highest concentration of need in the nation is hidden behind the smiles of those working in restaurants and hotels. In fact, 69% don’t earn enough to cover their basic needs. 70% are navigating anxiety, depression, or significant mental health struggles. The hospitality industry also carries some of the highest rates of substance abuse. Behind the smiles are real stories — hardworking people facing homelessness, unexpected medical crises, unreliable transportation, addiction, or the weight of a significant loss. Every story is different, but too often, the struggle goes unseen. Big Table is the referral-based safety net for hospitality workers experiencing crisis. Big Table intervenes early with immediate triage support that changes the trajectory of the crisis and continues with long-term relational care that builds capacity and hope.
